Quick Update

April has been study month. I've been out of town most of the time hiding in different states (South Carolina, Tennessee, and Florida) in search of quiet and few distractions. I was all ready - then the University of Florida Stomach Flu hit... hard. How did I pick this up you might ask? Well, my boyfriend's little brother came home from school (UF) and brought the nasty bug back with him. I started to get sick on the car ride back and Dara quickly followed. Alas, I couldn't sit through a 4 hour exam. SIGH... I thought I would be getting on with my life by now, but I've got a few more days of studying before I re-take the GMAT on the 27th, 4:30 PM, prayers are appreciated.

OK, back to studying.

Worst Blogger Ever

I am officially the worst blogger ever! I feel like I have NOTHING to say. "Hi, I slept until 9:00 (wow, I am lazy), I did nothing all day because until I know what school I am in I can't get a job. Oh, I started watching The Wendy Williams Show - she is the most exciting part of my day. Boy is it cold outside! Who wants to run in this weather?!" That pretty much sums up February. This unemployment thing is making me crazy.

March, however, has become much more exciting! Yesterday I had a job interview for a part time gig, second interview today. I also found out I have my interview with Georgia Tech on March 19! I made it to the second round! WOO HOO!!! I have an interview with the church on Thursday about membership. (I guess it isn't really an interview, but a meeting). And an interview for group leader at the church. Month of interviews! Bring it on :)

On a side note, why is it snowing in March? The snow has been falling hard for hours, I'm glad the temperature is holding at 33 degrees, otherwise I think we would have a few inches by now. So - does snow = lion or lamb? This snow is pretty lamb-like.

The Move, day 9

The move is almost done! It has been a busy week, it all started last Wednesday... Wednesday morning I signed the lease to my new apartment. I'm moving into a one bedroom in Dunwoody at Gables Metropolitan. After I had the keys to my apartment, I left for Nashville to pick up my mom. Mom and I then continued on to Louisville. Thursday and Friday mom and I packed up my belongings and I picked up my truck. I was so nervous to drive a 22 foot straight truck through town! I had to climb up a ladder to get into the cab and the diesel engine shook so much that I shook, my foot shook and then the shaking got worse! A never ending cycle... My dad arrived Friday night after work and the movers showed Saturday morning. The movers did a great job and had me loaded in no time. They did such a good job packing it in that we only used about half the truck. Saturday afternoon I started the drive to Nashville with mom following in the van and dad following in his car. By the time we got to Elizabethtown I was much more comfortable driving my big ole truck and got the speed up to 65 mph.

Saturday night my dad and I unloaded part of the truck. Since I am downsizing apartments, all guest bedroom and dining room furniture won't fit in the new place. Mom and I try and get a few hours of sleep before starting the journey to Atlanta. Sunday morning the storms roll in, high winds and lots of rain! Mom and I leave at 9:00 AM (10:00 Eastern) giving me 6 hours to drive to Atlanta before the "unload" movers arrive. In all, the drive took 6.5 hours! 3 inches of rain fell on us during the drive with speeds as low as 30 mph on the interstate due to the downpour.

The "unload" movers did an excellent job, unloading my truck in the rain in less than two hours. Monday and Tuesday mom and I spent unpacking and trying to figure out how all my stuff will fit! Yesterday morning we returned to Nashville... since I drove the truck, my car was still at my parents house. Now Thursday morning, I've got my car back and I'm headed back to Atlanta to avoid the snow predicted to fall in Nashville tomorrow. After 9 long days, my move back to Atlanta will be complete, thank goodness!!

The Roaming Magi

Travelocity may have a roaming gnome, but the Bohon’s have the roaming Magi. Today is the 8th days of Christmas. (Oh yes, Obama, I said it! CHRISTmas!!!) My mom has started a wonderful new tradition... I guess you can't call it a tradition if you've only done it once. Nonetheless, I think it has great potential to become a tradition in our house. We have a couple of rules in our house when it comes to decorating for Christmas:

1. The commencement of the Christmas Season begins when Santa Claus arrives at the Macy's Day Parade. Decorating anytime prior to Santa’s arrival is just blasphemous.

2. Decorations should remain in place until the Epiphany. For those of you who do not know, the Epiphany (Jan 6) is a Christian holiday celebrating the visit of the Magi, also referred to as Wise Men, to the baby Jesus. Traditionally, the 12 days of Christmas are from December 25 – January 5.

I like these rules because, one, I like rules and I like to follow them. Two, you maximize the use of holiday decor (and who doesn't like efficiency?!) We have a few Nativity scenes scattered throughout the house, but this year all participants in the Nativity have arrived chronologically. The shepherd and animals arrived first, then Mary and Joseph, an angel, followed by Jesus in the wee hours of Christmas morning. And it was Christmas Day that the Magi started their journey from the east (aka family room). Each day, the Magi continue their journey across the land, following the star to find the one who has been born king of the Jews.

"After they [the Magi] had heard the king, they went on their way, and the star they had seen in the east went ahead of them until it stopped over the place where the child was. When they saw the star, they were overjoyed." Matthew 2:9-10

Due to the untimely arrival of a cold this Christmas, I have yet to be the first one up in our house… until today! After a week of ridiculous amounts of sleep and crashing hours before the big ball drop in Times Square, I was up at 6:00 AM this morning. Before dawn and my first cup of coffee, I tip toed into the family room, carefully gathered the Wise Men in my arms, and moved them into the kitchen. I have determined that these particilar Wise Men are quite adventurous and what better place for adventure than under the china cabinet alongside topiary reindeer?

Now it is almost 8:00 and I am waiting in eager anticipation for somebody else to wake up and find the skillfully hidden Magi! Just a few more days of travel and they will arrive on January 6 along side the baby Jesus!
